New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

Key information about the churches

Where & when does the church meet?

There is Holy Communion at 8 am in either Holy Cross Church, Sarratt or St. Paul's Church, Chipperfield every Sunday and a variety of services usually at 10 am in one or other or both churches. To find the location of each church, click on the church names. To see the details of service times and places click here .  We suggest that you should aim to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the service to allow you sufficient time to prepare yourselves and be settled for the service, and to ensure you are not in a rush to park your car and make your way to church.

There is a small church car park at Holy Cross, but the landlord of the nearby Cock Inn kindly allows us to park in his car park for services. There is a car park outside the church in Chipperfield and plenty of on street parking nearby.

Wheel-chair access is level at St.Pauls and there is a movable ramp which can quickly be put into position for access at Holy Cross.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome, particularly from our Welcomers who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. Except for more informal worship, the form of service follows that prescribed by the Church of England for Holy Communion, Morning or Evening prayer or Compline. The services at 10 am on the 2nd Sunday at St Paul's and the 4th Sunday at Holy Cross are lay-led interactive services created for the occasion and include singing songs and hymns, a passage read from the Bible, a short talk for the theme for the day and prayer. On a 5th Sunday, there is usually a special service which is crafted for the occasion.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to children at church?

Everyone is welcome to attend any of the services. The All-age service at St Paul's on the 2nd Sunday and the Open House Service at Holy Cross on the 4th Sunday are more accessible for young children.

On the 2nd Sunday at Holy Cross there is Children's Church with stories, craft and singing. Children start at the Church and transfer to the Cock Inn, returning to church for the end of the service. This is geared for children up to 10 years.

On the 3rd Sunday at St Paul's Children's Church is available in the Parish room.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

We aim to make all who come, feel at ease, so you are free participate in as much or as little as feels comfortable for you.

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them.
