Time Out

Three times a year we have an event, primarily for ladies, but all are welcome, which allow us to take “time out” from our busy lives to have Christian meditation, fellowship and once a year a leisurely walk through our beautiful countryside. Of course, there is always the necessary tea, coffee and homemade cakes.  Normally, January, May and September, so look out for the dates.

Next Event: SATURDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2018,
held at St Paul's Church, Chipperfield in the Parish Room overlooking the Common

Sue Trevor from Restore Hope, Latimer will be joining us.
Come along to hear what's been happening at Restore Hope, enjoy some heart warming stories, a bowl of soup and relax with friends.

We are presently looking for a 'Director of Music'.

Benefice of Sarratt and Chipperfield
St Paul’s Church, Chipperfield WD4 9BS
seeks a gifted and inspirational musician,
someone with a passion for God, music and worship,
to serve as
Director of Music
The successful candidate would enhance the worshipping life and outreach of a community accustomed to a high standard of traditional music. However we have a wide spectrum of worship needs so the director would also be willing to explore informal/contemporary music styles.
The organ is a fine three–manual pipe organ in excellent order, by TH Lewis; so ability to play the organ to a high standard would be an advantage.
Responsibilities include choir rehearsal, playing at Sunday services (currently twice per month), on holy days and festivals, and at Occasional Services.
The ability to work collaboratively with the Rector, service leaders and choir is essential.
The position is available immediately with the offer of a one year renewable, part time contract. Remuneration is comparable to RSCM salary rates. There would be the opportunity to arrange recitals and concerts plus fees from occasional weddings and funerals.
For details contact the Rector:  or call 01923 265 848

Thanks to a generous personal gift and a contribution from the Friends of Holy Cross, additional land (approximately one acre) has been secured to ensure that future generations can be laid to rest in Sarratt.   We are currently working towards incorporating this land into the existing churchyard.  So far the land has been fenced and the council will be installing latch-gates where the two public footpaths egress the land.
A gap will then be cut in the hedge of the present churchyard near the Church Lane farmgate to provide access for funerals, diggers, mowers, etc., and the churchyard extension will be hedged with native species.  We plan for this later phase to be a community project so there will be an opportunity for Sarratt folk, past and present, and village organizations, to be part of the purchase and planting of native species to enclose the churchyard and provide suitable habitat for wildlife. More on this in due course.

In recent years, the farmgate providing vehicular access from Church Lane to the churchyard has been unlocked.  In consideration of on-going work to extend the churchyard, Holy Cross PCC considers it prudent to lock this gate until the new boundaries are secure.  This will be reviewed once the project is complete.  Local funeral directors and contractors have been informed.
We are thankful to all who attend their family graves and apologise for any inconvenience.   Parking will continue to be available in the open car park next to the almshouses.   If vehicular access to the churchyard is required for any reason, please contact me (260295) or a churchwarden in advance to arrange this.                               Alan Poulton (on behalf of Holy Cross PCC)
